At the core of Peoples Product is our enthusiasm for collaboration. When we get a chance to collaborate with brilliant, talented, and just plain awesome people we couldn't be more excited. Naturally, we want to share the fun with you. We had a quick chat with illustrator (and intern extraordinaire), Anna Raponi, about who she is and what inspires her. At almost 19 years old, she's already impressing the world with her beautiful creations.
What are you studying?
I'm in my first year of fashion communication at Ryerson.
Where are you from?
What inspires your illustrations?
Usually I just do illustrations based off of my own photography, but I guess I usually use colours and add details that sort of reflect like my mood or colours I'm into. I would really like to start doing just freehand illustrations without reference photos that are more abstract.
What are you currently reading?
I just started Mercury by Ariana Reines. I heard it's like a bible.
Where would you like to travel to next and why?
I think Turkey or India would be so so cool. And I always want to go back to Paris.
Who do you admire and why?
I'm surrounded by a lot of cool people that I really look up to, there's so many young creatives in Toronto making a name for themselves right now. But I'm really interested by Sibyl Buck right now. She was like a punk skater YSL model in the 80's and now she's like a chill yoga mom.
Why does working with Peoples Product appeal to you?
I think ethical and fair trade fashion is so so important and I think making it available here and more wearable is really cool.
